Game Dev Hot Seat will be running on-stage throughout the day. Get to know the people who make the games as they share their stories, ideas and ambitions and dive into the process of game development.

GO423 2018 Workshops – registrations now open

Workshops:

We are very pleased to announce that Martin Wallace will be giving a Card Game Design Workshop:

Come along a design your own card game. Blank card decks will be available free of charge for you to create your own, original card game design. Suitable for all ages. Registrations for this workshop will be via The Brisbane Powerhouse GO423 event page (Now Open).

Martin will also be running play testing sessions for a game in process and has kindly offered to provide mentoring sessions for folks who are in the middle of designing their own table-top games.

The list of games that are going to be on show in the exhibition is being sorted out and we will be sending out information soon. It looks like we are going to have a wonderful full day of Game Dev pop-up talks on the Turbine platform all day and we are hosting a final industry panel at the end of the day!

You are invited to join us for the 48hr game making challenge END GAME BBQ & Judges presentation

Date: Sunday October 2nd

Time: 4.30 – 7.00pm

Venue: The BLOCK, QUT Creative Industries Precinct (Cnr Kelvin Grove Road and Musk Avenue)

Join us to celebrate the end of the tenth 48 hour game making challenge. Play the games made during the weekend and vote for your favourite in the ‘People’s Choice’ prize category.

Play and vote: 4.30pm – 6.00pm

Judges presentation: 6.00pm – 7.30pm

2016 GO423 Pop-up Exhibition Beer & Pixels

Game On are holding a very special pop-up exhibition of locally made games. This free event invites you come along, play games and chat with the friendly folks who made them.

Free public event

When: Saturday Aug 27th 2016
Where: Powerhouse, New Farm, Brisbane
Times: 10am – 5.30pm
Presented by brIGDA and the Powerhouse

Special events:

4.00pm – 5.30pm – Open mic
pecha kutcha style open mic session – Our wonderful local games studios will be presenting the game concept and revealing the fun and games of making their game.

Followed by
5.30 – 8.00pm – ‘Beer and Pixels’

Beer and Pixels invites emerging game makers to share a cold beer with other like-minded folks and show off ‘work in progress’ for discussion and feedback. We do have some kind mentor pro’s happy to chat with you at the event.

Where: Powerhouse Bar.

The Beer and Pixels event is limited numbers so book in to avoid disappointment!

2016 48hr Logo Challenge

It’s that time of year again where we call upon you to design a logo for the Game On 48 Hour Game Making Challenge.

The winning logo will be used as the official 48 Hour logo for 2016 and will be presented on promotional material, including prize mugs, event shirts and online platforms.
This year the 48 Hour Game Making Challenge will be celebrating 10 years so we’re looking for an extra special birthday logo!

Your design must:

  • – contain the line:
  • The 10th Annual 48 Hour Game Making Challenge 2016 2014
  • – be at least 300dpi
    – 
    have a transparent background
  • – be a layered or editable file, preferably .psd
  • – allow for various design uses including mugs and t-shirts
  • – include fonts or accommodate different prize category titles
  • – have a lo-res version for submission (below)

Entries close Monday 15 August 2016.

The winner will be announced late August.
