Game lovers… Level Up with us on Friday 12th April for your last chance to play the latest and greatest video games from our State’s best developers after dark. We’re bringing it all back for one night only.

Venue: SLQ Garage Gamer lounge

Enjoy unlimited games, mingle with the crowd, rub shoulders with industry peeps, and share a toast to say goodbye to a summer of loving games at SLQ.

We are bringing back local game dev luminaries – our own John Passfield (Right Pedal Studios) and Pras Moorthy (Mana Bar and Kixeye), the game dev community and our friends 4ZZZ Zed Games who will be back to broadcast live and lay down the tunes. brIGDA, Game On and the QUT Creative Industries Precinct will showcase the best of their intense 48 Hour Game Making Challenges from recent years, and present a special screening of the unmissable documentary about the Challenge, the organisers and its participants.

It’s the end-game party you’ve been waiting for. And it’s free.

A cash bar will be available at the venue.

The first Level Up games night kicks off on Friday 11 January where two hand-picked teams publically battle out a series of game design challenges. It’s Iron Chef meets Spicks and Specks meets Cut n Paste. Audience members get to nominate design challenges for our teams and watch as they battle to create the best game by the end of the night. Come along after work and grab a drink, play the latest Queensland made video games, and vote for your favourite team.

Featuring – TripleZ Zed Games who are bringing the music and their lovely selves, Honoured judge and MC John Passfield (Red Sprite Studios, Right Pedal Studios) who is bringing kindness and compassion to our first ever very experimental 2 hour game jam! AND audience challenges playing the fabulous slew of locally made games!

Cash Bar – come and play, watch, and of course buy the teams a drink!

The State Library of Queensland is holding a four month long series of events (January – April) around the Garage Gamer public exhibition. They have a whole gallery full of wonderful locally made games, workshops, panels, films, activities and some fabulous speakers.
